2nd day at the OBX

so this morning we went to the sound which is a very calm part of the ocean because there is land that kind of blocks it so there are not as many waves. it is still the ocean so it is dirty and sandy and salty but no waves so much more calmer. the kids had a really good time and enjoy being outside. i am in the house right now and kenzie is taking a nap. robert took the boys to have some male bonding time at some gokart, mini golf place. not sure if he will take pictures. below are some of the pictures from this morning.

Kenzie would have nothing to do with the water or sand but finally by the end of our time at the beach she was kneeling down and digging.

look at me, i am actually walking in the sand, oh bummer it is time to go. maybe next time i will start playing before the last 20 mins.

all the kids, robert included, did finally get kenzie to go out on the boogey board in the water. she was ok as long as it didnt tip at all, which of course was hard to do and everyone had to surround her.

this is how we started the day, sitting on the lap, having nothing to do with the sand.

you can't see it but robert has a hermit crab on his leg and it is walking around and kenzie is yelling at it. girly girl!!!!

2nd Day at the OBX

The boys and Robert are trying to catch something (i will show you later), Dustin as you can see is not very interested in it.

We may have lost it or we may have caught it, what do you think?

Look at what we caught, a blue leg crab. it took a little time and effort but so worth it.

here is a close up view in case the first 2 pictures weren't enough for you. everyone was ok with the crab except our girly girl, kenzie. she did not want to have anything to do with it.

More pics of the OBX

Nick making a sand castle for Kenzie, but she ended up leaving the beach and going to take a nap so i am not sure if he ever finished it.

Just pick one of those people out there and say they are Robert, TJ, Nick or Dustin. they were out there boogey boarding but i could not get any closer image.

Those little black dots, those are people and all the kids are out there, just use your imagination.

Kenzie was making noises into this bucket, it was a funny sight so i had to snap a picture.

entertainment at its finest!!!! she did quickly remove them from her nose and got her fingers washed by her dad. why do all kids insist on doing this?

our little dental girl. she is using Michele's toothbrush. it is one of those crest spin brushes and it was turned on. i actually had to take it away from her.

OBX 2009 1st day

Ok i can never get these in the right order, what can i do to remember how to load them the right way? anyway it is really hard to tell in this picture but Dustin was so proud of himself for rolling around in the sand and becoming the "Sand Man" he quickly rinsed off in the ocean.

See what i mean by not getting them in the right order, Dustin is getting all sandy in this picture. That is our buddy Emma helping cover him with sand. (Emma's dad, John, is in the background)

Kenzie sitting in a chair on the beach, we did make it to the ocean with her and she was proudly standing on the beach watching the water, then it came up and touched her so she started screaming, "the water is coming, sit sit." so we had to go back to the chair.

Again, out of order, this is a mcdonald's playplace that we stopped at on the way down to the OBX.

Kenzie's first haircut

As you can see her hair is very curly and kind of out of control. she keeps pulling the hair clips, ponytail holders, everything out of her hair so it falls in her face and then she gets mad trying to push it out of the way. She did not want to sit in the chair.

Got her to at least sit, she wasn't very happy.

Please stop pulling my hair. Notice she has a sucker in one hand, that was to calm her down. In the other hand she has a shovel with boots from Dora on it, she is always carrying random things around and this is the object of the day.

Here she is all done. She is happy in mom's arms and with the sucker. i will try to take a more straight forward picture soon and post that but as you can see it is out of her eyes and she won't pull anything out of her hair.

Long Time

ok so i have not updated in a long time and everyone was probably bored of the same things. so i have tried to find all the pics on my phone and put a good variety of them on here. we have finished up most of our busy activities for the summer and i am so glad. kind of ready for the routine of school to start back up. but before that happens we are off to the outer banks to play and relax. i will be updating while we are down there so check back to see what we are up to. we have this week to get ready and then off we go.

Variety of Pics

There is a new Rock Garden outside the expanded YMCA, some of the bricks you see in the fore front have names on them that people have bought. As you can see there is a fountain and Kenzie was very curious about it.

This is a classic picture of Dustin, he will randomly take my phone and take pictures of himself usually, then he sends them to Robert. Sometimes i will pick up my phone and find random pics.

More happiness in the bath!!!!!

i want to share with you that kenzie is finally having a great time in the bath, as a matter of fact as i post this i sit in the bathroom while she plays. the pics of her were a little to revealing so i will try to take some more that dont show so much.

Kenzie wants to be like her brothers so she is always taking their things and trying to use them, she grabbed one of their bike helmets and has gracefully placed it on her head backwards, these are one of the random pics that i find on my phone.

Family Picnic

Tj & Kenzie. I think this is a great picture so i wanted to share it with you. She really does love her big brothers and i think they really love her except when they have to change her diaper.

and the above picture was a zoom of what Kenzie is sitting there looking at. She fell asleep on the way to the picnic and when she woke up she was very grumpy so Robert took her for a walk around and she calmed down when they got to the horses. so i wanted to show you that she was looking at something, not just a fence.

Family Picnic with the Shoemakers

Grandma Albrecht planned a great family picnic with all the kids and their families. This is Dustin during the pie eating contest.

Four of the kids that wanted to join in. They were having so much fun.

Then Uncle David had to join them. He had more pie on his mustache and beard then i think he got into his mouth. (notice the great hair do, one of the kids decided it would be fun to do his hair since it is long)

Even though this picture only shows my kids with Uncle Steve, there really were more kids there. They had a pinata and this is them picking up the candy.
